Behavior Modification Incentive Puzzles

Download HERE!

Behavior modifications, though effective, can sometimes be VERY time-consuming. Last year, a coworker had a very spirited child who needed a few modifications to make sure he stayed on track. We knew he LOVED tablet time so we made him a set of 6 puzzle pieces with a picture of a tablet on it. The idea was that he would earn puzzle pieces when he completed his work. Once the puzzle was completed, he was able to go play on the tablet. It worked SO well!

I made a set of incentive puzzles for behavior modification purposes and included a variety of incentives for the students.

The puzzles can be downloaded HERE!

FREE Classroom Management Websites

Class Dojo

ClassDojo is a classroom tool that helps teachers improve behavior in their classrooms quickly and easily. It also captures and generates data on behavior that teachers can share with parents and administrators.

This is available online and as an app (Android & Apple). Parents can download the Class Dojo app and keep track of their child's behavior throughout the day. You can even instant message with parents!

I love the app because I can simply use my phone from my guided reading table to award dojo points or take them away. I keep the website open on my smartboard so students can see when they are awarded Dojos. No more getting up form guided reading to manage behaviors! Woohoo!

Slow and Steady Wins the Race??

It's probably too early to start thinking about back to school... scratch that, it definitely is.  I may have even beat the notorious "It's the most wonderful time of the year..." Staples commercials. However, in an attempt to stay on top of things this year, I'm beginning to get things ready for September.

This week, I made a chevron-themed back to school bundle. Of course, I'm giving my fabulous followers a FREEBIE! Below, is a link to download a yellow chevron 'Welcome to Kindergarten' banner. I suggest printing this on card stock, using a hole-punch, and stringing twine through the holes.

Send me a picture of your banner hanging in your classroom and get the entire packet for FREE! Simply add the photo to the comments section or email it to me at happylittlekindergarten@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing it in your classroom!

Guided Reading Strategies FREEBIE

Guided Reading Strategies

I'm in the process of making a guided reading bundle. I hoped to get it out this week, but fate didn't seem to want that to happen quite yet. This week has seemed to be one project after another. I did want to post my weekly freebie, which is a page form my guided reading bundle, for all of my followers. Hopefully I can post the entire bundle by this weekend.... we'll see. The warm weather has made me slightly less motivated.

In my school, we use these cartoons for reading strategies. Some people call these 'beanie baby strategies". I like to focus on one for an entire week at my guided reading table.

S-t-r-e-t-c-h the Snake - Stretch the word then bring it back together.
Skippy Frog - Skip a word then go back to it.
Flippy Dolphin - Flip the vowel sound.
Chunky Monkey - Look for familiar parts of a word.
Lips the Fish - Get your lips ready to say the word.
Tryin' Lion - Try to reread the sentence.
Helpful Kangaroo - When all else fails, ask the teacher!
Eagle Eyes - Look at the picture for clues.

You can use these for desk name tags, bag of books labels, guided reading folders, etc.

Enjoy!!
